Twyla Nova is an artist working primarily in photographic arts, including film, digital, alternative processes, bookmaking, and sculpture, focusing on the complex relationship between humans and the natural world, including representations of nature and environmental concerns.
While at the University of Iowa, Nova earned undergraduate degrees in Environmental Studies and Photography and then continued at Texas Woman’s University, completing an MFA in Photography.
Currently, Nova is an Art Professor while pursuing a Ph.D. in Aesthetic Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas, researching representations of endangered and extinct species in the age of the Anthropocene.
